Session by NORNORM Welcome to NORNORMs CIRCULAR BREAKFAST @TECHBBQ in Copenhagen! The Next Competitive Advantage Isn't AI. It's Adaptability AI is rapidly democratising technology. When every company has access to increasingly powerful tools, models and capabilities, technology alone becomes less of a differentiator. The real competitive advantage may instead be how quickly a company can adapt. In a world where few leaders can confidently predict what their business will need 18 months from now, companies are being forced to rethink how much they own, how long they commit and how rigidly they build their organisations. From people and technology to workplaces and business models, the question is shifting from "How do we stay flexible enough to change? 📩 Tickets are free, but spots are limited, so make sure to secure yours today! Europe faces unprecedented challenges in climate transition, health, social inclusion and technological sovereignty. At the same time, progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals is falling behind, while demand for long-term, patient capital continues to grow. Foundations are uniquely positioned to help address these challenges - not only through grants, but by deploying capital strategically through impact investing. At TechBBQ, we believe Nordic and European foundations can play a defining role in shaping Europe's future.

Medicine is being rebuilt at every layer at once, and those layers are rarely shown together. Molecules once found by trial and error are now designed and computed. Labs that ran on human hands are starting to run themselves. Sensors now reach inside single cells. And in Copenhagen, machines are going up that may one day simulate biology outright. Michael Baczyk opens the day by joining those layers into one picture, from the clinic through design, execution and measurement to compute, then takes the first conversation straight onto the stage.

Cecilia is a Scientific Manager at the Novo Nordisk Foundation at the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the organisation anchoring this day, and she opens it with the reasoning behind it. Why AI, quantum and biology are converging now rather than in a decade. What that convergence asks of Europe. And why Denmark, with its deep life-science roots, keeps producing companies far above its weight. Underneath sits a harder question: where can a foundation take longer risks, and move earlier, than a market ever will?

Every cell in the body is constantly being told what to become, and that instruction set has never been readable at scale. Micha Breakstone is a serial AI entrepreneur whose previous company, Chorus.ai, was acquired for $575 million. He leads Cellular Intelligence, a clinical-stage AI company building a universal foundation model for cell signaling - the way cells communicate. Decoding that language is the first step toward predicting and controlling it, offering the potential to advance biology from something we observe to something we design. Expect vision for what the models can do today, what they can't do, and what's set to change for medicine once cells become truly programmable.

For a century, finding a drug meant making thousands of molecules and testing them until one survived. That is being replaced by something stranger. Software proposes the molecule, predicts how it will behave inside a body, and increasingly simulates the trial before a single patient is enrolled. This panel brings together the people building those systems, from co-pilots that let three chemists design like thirty, to engines that model biology from a single protein up to a whole population. The open question is where it still breaks, and how much a pharmaceutical company can responsibly bet on a prediction.

Predicting a molecule is one thing. Making it is another, and that is where most of the promise still dies. This session is about the execution layer: laboratories that behave like software, machines that build matter atom by atom, and agents that design an experiment, run it, read the result and decide what to try next. The panel spans retrosynthesis, robotic biolabs, materials foundries and atomic-layer manufacturing, and it holds a real disagreement about whether a model can be trusted alone or physics has to stay in the driving seat. The plainest question is the best one: how much of the loop runs without a human, and what happens where it stops?

Ask ten people where quantum is today and you'll get ten answers, mostly shaped by individual experiences. This panel tackles the question head-on. Across computing, sensing and the components underneath both: what has moved in the last twelve months, what is shipping to paying customers, and what is still a decade out? The panellists see the field from very different heights: a founder living with the hardware's limits, an investor who has to price the entire sector, and an institute that meets these companies before anyone else will fund them.

The quantum story with nothing to do with computing, and the one already closest to a patient. Both companies here use the same underlying trick, atomic flaws in diamond that behave as extremely sensitive sensors, and point it at very different problems. One measures oxidative stress inside a single living cell, an MRI small enough to fit inside the cell itself, already used in hospital research on sepsis and cancer. The other reads blood and spinal fluid for the rare tumour cells that reveal whether a cancer treatment is working, aiming to answer in days what currently takes months. Moderated by the investor running Novo Holdings' quantum programme.

Joined by an expert from the stock market ecosystem, the panel will also explore the practical realities of being listed and how governance and management practices evolve as a company grows from an entrepreneurial business into a publicly traded company. Quantum computers promise computational capabilities beyond those of even the most powerful classical supercomputers, with potentially transformative applications ranging from the life sciences and drug discovery to artificial intelligence. And there is solid scientific ground for this promise: once large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computers become available, they will be able to solve important problems efficiently that are believed to be intractable classically. But between this promise and practical quantum advantage lie substantial gaps.

Session by FBV BioMar’s IPO is one of the most significant Danish stock market listings in recent years — and the largest IPO by deal value in eight years in Denmark and the largest in the Nordics in 2026. With a market capitalisation of approximately €1.45 billion at the IPO price, the listing marks the return of a major Danish company to the public markets after several years with very few IPOs. It is also the first Danish IPO of this scale since Netcompany in 2018. In this keynote, BioMar shares the story behind its decision to go public in 2026 and how the listing is intended to provide a strong foundation for the company’s continued growth in Denmark and internationally. Our region holds world-class innovation inputs, yet our primary deficit lies in cross-border connection rather than true capability. This opening fireside chat takes a macro-level view of regional integration. We will explore how the Nordics can move beyond accidental, person-dependent cooperation toward a standing, unified market framework. Session by Plug and Play & Digital Serbia Initiative Small Hub, Global Ambition: The Ecosystem on the Rise @TechBBQ How do high-potential startups scale internationally from smaller tech hubs? Join us during TechBBQ for an exclusive side event exploring cross-border expansion, venture capital, and global enterprise growth. The best startups are thinking globally from day one. Our panel brings together investors and founders to explore what this shift means, where they see the opportunities today, and how emerging hubs can compete on a global stage. Session by Danish Entrepreneurs As the European Union shifts its regulatory gaze toward the consumer landscape, the incoming Digital Fairness Act aims to completely reshape how platforms interact with their users. By cracking down on "dark patterns," manipulative design architectures, and hidden subscription traps, Brussels intends to shield consumers and level the playing field against Big Tech. But where is the line between consumer protection and innovation friction? Will these strict design rules empower European startups to win on trust, or will they introduce another layer of costly compliance that hampers early-growth scaling? This session dissects the operational realities of building global consumer apps under the EU’s evolving digital paradigm, exploring whether new fairness mandates act as a structural shield or a startup bottleneck. Session by Nvidia & AWS An honest conversation with founders, investors, and practitioners on what's real vs. hype on the ground. The Agentic AI Era: Building What’s Next We'd love to have you join us for an afternoon built around one question: what does it actually take to build and scale with Agentic AI today? AWS and NVIDIA are co-hosting a focused event for founders, CTOs, and builders who are already in the thick of it. We want to hear what you're building, share what we're seeing across the region, and connect the dots between the technology, infrastructure and the teams actually using it. We've designed the afternoon to be insightful and practical.
