About the Life Science Pitch Competition

This year, 8 European life science startups will pitch live on stage at TechBBQ 2027, showcasing innovations in human and planetary health.

Based in Europe

Your startup must be headquartered in Europe.

Life Science

Startups must operate in Life Science, addressing human or planetary health.

Early-Stage

Startups must be early-stage with less than €2M in funding and validated concept or prototype.

Independent Product

Startups must be independent companies, not subsidiaries or part of larger groups.

Video Submission

Show Us Your Startup in Action

Have a product, platform, or process? Show it in action and bring your solution to life.

Guidelines

  • Max 1 Minute in English

  • HD Quality

  • Horizontal Format

  • Clear Sound

Format & Requirements

Submit a short product or service demo, not a pitch. The video must be in English, up to 60 seconds, and clearly show your solution in action. Avoid subtitles or heavy editing. Keep it simple, clear, and focused on the product.

Suggested Structure

Start with your startup name and a short one-liner. Focus on showing your product, service, or technology in action, not just talking. End with a brief outro to wrap it up. Keep the flow clear, visual, and easy to follow.

Judging Criteria

Idea Quality

A clear and well-structured idea that demonstrates strong understanding of the problem, grounded in relevant knowledge, and clearly differentiated from existing solutions.

Impact

The potential to create real value for users and markets, with scalability and the ability to address meaningful societal or environmental challenges.

Execution

A capable team with the skills or a clear plan to develop them, supported by a realistic and feasible path to build, launch, and grow the solution.

Pitch (Finalists Only)

Finalists are evaluated on the clarity and persuasiveness of their live pitch, including a 2-minute presentation followed by a 3-minute Q&A with the jury.
